Rutting is ‘surface depression in the wheel path’.
Pavement uplift may occur along the rut.
They are two basic types
- Subgrade rutting:- it occurs when subgrade exhibits the wheelpath depression due to loadings.
- Mix rutting :- it occurs when the subgrade does not rut yet pavement surfaces exhibits wheelpath as result of compaction or mix design problems.
