Volume of mortar= 1 m³
Mix Ratio –> 1:6
Dry volume of mortar = Wet volume x 1.33
∴Dry Volume = 1.0 m³x 1.33 = 1.33 m³
Quantity of Cement = {(Dry Volume of mortar x Cement ratio) / (Sum of the ratio)}
∴Quantity of cement = (1.33 x 1) /(1+6)=0.19m³
Density of Cement = 1440kg/m³
∴ Weight of Cement = 1440 x 0.19 = 273.6Kg
1 bag of cement contains 50 kg of cement
∴ Number of bags = 273.6 Kg/50 = 5.472 No’s
Cement : Sand :: 1:6
Quantity of Sand = Quantity of Cement x 6
∴ Quantity of Sand = 0.19 m³ x6= 1.14 m³
1m³=35.3147 Cubic Feet (CFT)
∴ Quantity of sand = 1.14 x 35.3147 = 40.258 CFT
Density of sand = 1920kg/m³
∴ Weight of the sand= 1.14m³x1920kg/m³= 2380.8 kg =>2.3808 tonnes
Material Cost:
| Material for one cu. m. | Quantity | rate | per | Amount |
| Cement | 5.472 bags | Rs. 350 | bag | Rs. 1915.2 |
| Sand | 1.14 m³ | Rs. 1350 | m³ | Rs. 1539 |
| Total | Rs. 3454.2 |
Labour Cost:
| Labours for 1m³ | No’s | Wages/day | Amount |
| Mazdoor | 0.75 | Rs. 500 | Rs. 375 |
| Bhisti | 0.07 | Rs. 400 | Rs. 28 |
| Rs. 403 |

Summary:
Cost of material = Rs. 3454.2
Cost of labours = Rs. 403
Sum of labour & material cost= Rs. 3857.2
Add:-
1.Water charge @ 1.5% = (1.5/100)x3857.2 = Rs. 57.858
2.Contractor’s profit @10 % = (10/100)x3857.2= Rs. 385.72
Total cost = 3857.2 + 57.858 +385.72= Rs. 4300.778
