Cold Weather Concreting

There are three major problems with concrete in cold weather:

1. Slow heat of hydration
2. Incomplete strength development
3. Higher setting time

Quality control measures in cold weather concerting:-

• Heating of aggregates and water (Not more than 60 to 80 degree centigrade)
• Use of rich mixes
• Use of Rapid Hardening Cement
• By covering the fresh concrete with insulating admixture
• By circulating steam around concrete components
