Concreting in Hot Weather

There are three main problems with concrete in hot weather:

1. False setting time of cement/concrete
2. Low early strength
3. Incomplete hydration

Quality control measures for concreting in hot weathers:

• Cooling of aggregates.
• Use of ice flakes in mixing water.
• Use of low heat cement.
• Use of admixtures.
• Protecting fresh concrete by insulating membranes .
• Schedule concrete placements to limit exposure to atmospheric conditions (i.e. at night or during favorable weather conditions).
